Even if you take care of your skin, you can’t avoid shedding dead skin cells and aging. Those fine lines, folds, and sagging skin you see in the mirror are signs that your skin is losing collagen or the protein that maintains the structure and elasticity of your skin.

One of the first areas to show your age is your face due to smiling, frowning, and talking. If you look, you will see crow’s feet around your eyes, frown lines on the forehead, and lines and wrinkles across the bridge of your nose. There may even be some chin dimpling.

Environment, genetics, and aging also give you dry and patchy skin. For example, if you lived out in the sun when you were younger, you will see sunspots or those dark age spots that make you feel older. Dramatic surgery is an option to get rid of wrinkles, and an intense skincare program may help with dryness. Still, there are less invasive ways than surgery to get rid of wrinkles, and there are treatments that complement your skin and get rid of dark and dry spots.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are the most common aesthetic treatment. Peels are a customizable way to treat skin conditions like acne scars, age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, melasma, and rosacea. Through the process of chemical exfoliation, you can stimulate cell turnover, unclog pores, and correct pigmentation issues. Exfoliate your skin with a chemical peel and eliminate dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin.

Chemical peels combine medical-grade ingredients containing refining and penetrating acids with healing elements. The chemical peel breaks down the skin’s surface layer to solve dryness, pigmentation, fine lines, and scarring. At the same time, a chemical peel revitalizes the deeper layers of your skin and helps heal acne. In addition to exfoliating, the ingredients trigger collagen production, leading to smoother and more glowing skin.

There are three types of chemical peels. Peels are defined by the strength of the chemical and how deeply the underlying layers of skin are affected. There are also four types of peels including:

• Alpha hydroxy acid peels

• Beta hydroxy acid peels

• Trichloroacetic acid peels

• Phenol peels

Light or Superficial Peels

Gently exfoliate the skin with a light peel. These peels only affect the top layer of your skin or epidermis. The gentlest peels use Alpha Hydroxy, which helps to reduce very fine lines, dry skin, minor acne, and mild pigmentation.

Light chemical peels also use Beta Hydroxy acid, a limpid chemical that controls oil production. In addition, Jessner’s peels use mandelic acid that comes from almonds and lactic acid to hydrate and brighten the skin.

Medium Depth Peels

The most used medium-depth peel is a Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel. TCA peels are offered in different strengths and combinations, and TCA is used in combination with salicylic acid at a lower percentage. Peels with more than 20% TCA can only be administered by a medical professional. TCA peels are excellent for patients with pigment irregularities, deep wrinkles, and acne scars.

Deep Peels

Deep peels are used to penetrate deep into the layers of your dermis. These chemical peels need more recovery time but do offer long–lasting facial rejuvenation. Deep peels require application by a medical professional, anesthetic, and bandaging.

Botox (ToxBooster)

Botulinum toxin type A or Botox is a neuromodulator. It is a drug prepared from the toxin botulin and used to treat muscular conditions and cosmetically remove wrinkles by paralyzing facial muscles temporarily. It interferes with nerve activity at the synapse and blocks neurotransmitters from activating muscle movement. Botox is perfect for stopping muscle contractions in the upper face.

If you have forehead lines, bunny lines (wrinkles over the top of your nose), frown lines between your eyes, or lines around the eyes, Botox is the ideal treatment. Botox can also take care of chin dimpling and teeth grinding (bruxism).

Combined ToxBooster and Chemical Peel Treatment

You can erase sun damage and wrinkles simultaneously with a combination of chemical peel and Botox or a ToxBooster treatment. Combined treatments allow you to see improvements sooner and with a dramatic final result. This combined treatment brings together chemical peels and Botox to give your skin a total transformation in only one 30 minute treatment.

Chemical peels and neuromodulators alone help combat signs of aging, but the more successful solution is to combine these protocols for an enhanced impact. For example, use a peel to refine, smooth, brighten, and Botox to relax muscles.
